Kailee has been selected as one of the State Finalist in the National American Miss 2010 Miss Iowa Princess Pageant.
We were so excited and proud of her!
We have call Kailee our "Family Princess" but now she could become "The Iowa Miss Princess!"
Kailee will attend a Pageant work shop in Cedar Rapids in May to learn many new things about being a princess. Then the 2010 Miss Iowa Princess Pageant will be in Grinnell at the College Bucksbaum Fine Art Center
June 27.
If she is selected to become the Iowa's 2010 Miss Princess she will be invited to California for Nationals in November.
How this started.....
We received an invitation in the mail from the National American Miss about a month ago. One of our friends had sent Kailee's name in to be interview for the pageant.I had no idea Kelly did this. "Thank you Kelly!"
When I read the invite I thought right what kind of deal is this? But I thought what the heck we will go and check it out.
I was very impressed with what they had say and their believes. The NAM pageant has guidelines for the finalist, for example no one under 13 can wear make-up, no bathing suits contests and many more rules that have to be followed.
NAM helps girls develop an empowering poise and self confidence.
NAM give many college scholarships for the girls and other gifts.
So I thought why not Kailee loves to dress up in fancy dresses and likes to look pretty so this will be fun for her.
Kailee is beautiful, very smart and she loves to learning new things. She is a sponge when it come to learning and she has a memory that is unbelievable.
Kailee was interviewed and they asked for one picture to keep. That was no problem we have many.
After we were done we were told we would hear from NAM the next week if she was selected. We were also told usually only 50% that where interviewed were selected.
Two days later we received a call that she was selected it was so exciting!
Kailee's first thoughts were "Do I need to change my name to Hannah Montana?"
She is so funny!! It's know wonder she was selected. I have no idea what she said during the interview but I am sure she steeled the interviewers heart or made her laugh a lot. Kailee is really good at that, specially if she is talking about her brothers.
So know we know nothing is for free and Kailee will be looking for sponsors if you would like to be one please make your checks payable to National American Miss. Your name will be featured in the state program book and in the paper. You can send the checks to us we will be taking them to the Pageant work shop in Cedar Rapids in May.
